WORK WITH ME
I integrate Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) in addition to talk therapy and other behavioral health approaches. This established modality in psychotherapy can relieve the negative effects of intense life experiences. Moments that may initially appear mundane can become etched in our memory, creating uncomfortable symptoms that degrade our lives. Relationships, sports, work, academic performance, and mood can all be negatively impacted. EMDR uses the power of your own mind to remove the high emotional burden of events like mishaps in sporting competitions and recreational injuries, as well as more intense experiences such as physical trauma, divorce, sexual abuse, and familial loss.
I received EMDR training from Fracine Shaprio, Ph.D., the originator and developer of EMDR. For over two decades I applied this modality in a many settings, helping children, adults, and families move on from traumatic events to experience positive outcomes. In service with the Peace Corps Response, I applied EMDR in a group refugee setting in Honduras (spanish-speaking here). This expertise allows me to apply EMDR in a variety of contexts to address complex issues.
