ABOUT

Karen Myers, LCSW

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with extensive experience helping individuals navigate life's challenges. My approach is collaborative and dynamic—we start where you are and work together to move toward your desired state. Using a combination of talk therapy, behavioral health approaches, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), I help clients remove obstacles and foster meaningful change.

I integrate Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) in addition to traditional talk therapy and other behavioral health techniques. EMDR is a well-established psychotherapy modality that helps relieve the negative effects of intense life experiences. Even seemingly mundane moments can become deeply embedded in our memory, leading to distressing symptoms that affect daily life—relationships, work, sports, academics, and mood can all suffer.

EMDR uses the power of your own mind to ease the emotional weight of difficult experiences, including sport-related mishaps, injuries, trauma, divorce, sexual abuse, and loss. By addressing these burdens, we can unlock healing, resilience, and personal growth.

WORK WITH ME

I received EMDR training from Francine Shapiro, Ph.D., the founder of this transformative therapy. For over two decades, I have applied EMDR in diverse settings, working with children, adults, and families to help them move past trauma and experience positive outcomes. My experience includes service with the Peace Corps Response, where I applied EMDR in a refugee group setting in Honduras, providing trauma-informed care in Spanish-speaking communities.

This deep expertise allows me to use EMDR in a variety of contexts, helping individuals work through complex issues and reclaim their emotional well-being.

EMDR Therapy Specialist

In addition to my clinical work, I spent 17 years as an elementary school counselor for the Hood River County School District. During this time, I guided students through challenges related to academic performance, social development, and navigating relationships with educators. School can be a difficult environment—sometimes it feels overwhelming or even impossible. I believe that seeking guidance is a bold and courageous step, and I am here to help individuals of all ages move forward with confidence and clarity.
